The call was part of the president’s speech at the plenary session of the 9th Summit of the Americas, held in the US city of Los Angeles amid criticism for the exclusion of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua and in the absence of several dignitaries.
Lasso stressed the need to build a more dynamic regional economic framework and cooperation with greater clarity and consistency, Ecuadorean media highlights on Saturday.
The head of State also mentioned that there is a close relationship between migration and the economy and in this regard mentioned the joint work as a mechanism to improve job opportunities and education, among other aspects and described Ecuador as a welcoming nation.
On security, he noted that the executive is engaged in combating transnational criminal structures, with attempts to establish their drug trafficking routes in the Andean country, where crime and violence have proliferated, including hired assassination style murders.
