In his Twitter account, the Foreign Minister considered that this text “is unbalanced and biased, it ignores diversity and political and social plurality in our region”.
He recalled that, as recognized by the UN and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, “there is no single model of democracy and the inalienable right of every State to choose its political, economic, social and cultural system must be respected”.
The real position of the host country on the issue was demonstrated even before the summit was held, when it unilaterally decided to exclude Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela from the meeting and ignored the repeated demands of numerous heads of state for all countries of the hemisphere to be present.
Also on Twitter, Rodriguez Parrilla pointed out that another of the approved documents, the Hemispheric Plan of Action on Health and Resilience “is ineffective as it is excluding”.
In this regard, he stated that “the coordinated action of all States is essential to improve the health and well-being of our peoples”.
