The exercises, included in the training plans for 2022, will also involve more than 40 planes and helicopters, as well as roughly 2,000 units of war matériel.
According to the press service of the Fleet, part of the naval tactical groups left their military bases and were deployed in designated areas of the Baltic Sea as part of the exercises, which will last until June 19th.
The stated goals are increasing the level of preparation and capability of the Fleet command and control and improving the interaction, maritime and field training of the ship crews and the personnel of the coastal troops.
The exercises are taking place at the same time as NATO’s Baltops 2022 naval exercise, scheduled from June 5th until June 16th in the central and southern regions of the Baltic Sea.
It also extends to coastal areas in Germany, Sweden, Poland and the Baltic countries with the participation of 14 member nations and partners of the bloc, 44 ships and about 100 planes.
