The Federation of University Students of Ecuador (FEUE) made the call on social media.
In addition to defending public education, young people spoke out against violence and insecurity, which are on the rise across the country.
Quito, Guayaquil, Riobamba, Esmeraldas, Sucumbios, Babahoyo and Santo Domingo are some of the cities where actions are taking place.
According to the FEUE, the Executive cut 110 million dollars in education from universities and polytechnic schools, and causing damage to infrastructure, professors’ layoffs, acceptance of quotas, scholarships and financial aids, among others.
This is the first students’ mobilization of many planned for these days, including one called by the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador, another by small banana producers and a third one led by the United Workers’ Front.
