This amount accounts for an increase of 16.8 percent compared to the same period in 2021, the minister said while addressing a session at the 15th Legislature of the National Assembly (Parliament), taking place in Hanoi.

Nine items recorded sales abroad estimated at more than one billion dollars, they are coffee, rubber, cashew nuts, Tra (pangasius) fish, vegetables and fruits, rice, shrimp, timber, and production inputs, Minh Hoan said, adding that the three main receiving markets were the United States, China and Japan, with more than 50 percent of the total.

The senior government official said that the ministry intensified the online promotion of Vietnamese agricultural products to potential markets such as Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East, while the sales management increased in China, the United States, Europe, Russia and Brazil.

In his speech to the legislators, Minh Hoan also referred to some of the limitations that weigh down the sector, such as the low competitive capacity of several products, the high cost of raw materials and the limited logistics infrastructure, among others.

The third session of the 15th Legislature of the National Assembly of Vietnam continued its works this Tuesday with issues related to the consumer market for agricultural products.
