Preparation of Argentine officials on Malvinas issue analyzed

malvinas, ARgentina
Buenos Aires, Jun 7 (Prensa Latina) The Chamber of Deputies of Argentina will analyze a bill to guarantee the preparation of public officials on issues related to the country’s struggle for its sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands (also known as Falkland Islands).

According to the agenda announced by the entity, the Foreign Relations and Budget and Treasury committees will debate the bill approved unanimously in the Senate starting at 2:00 p.m. local time.

Said document proposes the comprehensive and periodic training of all members of the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of Argentina.

As part of the process, those involved will receive information on the historical, geographical, environmental, legal and political arguments presented by Argentina to defend its rights over the islands and demand that the United Kingdom return to the dialogue table.

The bill came under scrutiny on the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War, which ended on June 14th, 1982 and left a toll of 904 dead: 649 Argentineans and 255 British.

The Constitution of Argentina ratifies its “legitimate and imprescriptible sovereignty over the Malvinas, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands and the corresponding maritime and insular spaces, as they are an integral part of the national territory.”

Their recovery, respecting the way of life of its inhabitants and in accordance with the principles of International Law, constitute “a permanent and inalienable objective of the people of Argentina”, as per the Constitution.
