According to the daily report from the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), 1,175 patients are in hospitals or at home nationwide, 984 of whom are suspected cases, 27 are under epidemiological surveillance and 164 are active cases.
Of the new cases, 28 were contacts of confirmed patients, one was infected abroad and the source of contagion was not identified in one case.
To date, the number of recovered patients rose to 1,096,667 (99.2 percent of all cases).
At a press briefing on television, MINSAP added that all active cases are clinically stable.
So far, Cuba has accumulated 1,105,419 contagions since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in March 2020.
The death toll remains at 8,529, MINSAP noted.
Cuba has maintained a downward trend of Covid-19 contagions for several weeks, thanks to the established hygienic-sanitary measures and the vaccination level achieved with the homegrown vaccines.
This led to the elimination earlier this week of the mandatory wear of facemasks in public places, according to health authorities.
