In a master lecture in this central Cuban city, the official stressed that the vision of the social progress currently rests on electricity; however, in order that this social development is sustainable, it has to be done with solar energy.
He indicated that the solar electricity is the renewable energy directly obtained from the solar radiation through a panel that, in turn, transforms it into electric energy.
He pointed out that, in the case of Cuba, motivated by the financial shortages and prohibited market suffocations as a result of the cruel US blockade, obtaining electricity as of the energy produced by the sun’s rays could be cheaper.
“The solar energy received in Cuba is 1,800 times greater than the oil used in the archipelago, with a potential of 150 kilowatt/hour per square meter by month,” the expert explained.
Dr. Berriz considered the need that the municipalities resort, preferentially, to use animal or vegetable wastes to produce electricity and heat for multiple uses, with a view to avoiding sources of environmental pollution and obtaining bio-fertilizers that do not harm the atmosphere.
