Díaz-Canel warns about heavy rains in western and central Cuba

Havana, Jun 2 (Prensa Latina) The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, warned today about heavy rains in the west and center of the country.

Through his Twitter account, the president referred “taking into account the saturation of the soil, due to the rains recorded last week, greater attention should be paid to the evolution of this complex hydrometeorological situation.”

On the same platform, the island’s Civil Defense (DC) reported that a close watch is being maintained on weather conditions “due to the situation created by the low pressure zone, with a wide and disorganized cloudy area with some electrical storms over the northwestern Caribbean Sea and much of Cuba.

The DC General Staff issued the first early warning notice the day before, in which it indicated that a tropical or subtropical cyclone development is possible in the next 24 to 48 hours.

The DC guides the governing bodies of the western and central provinces of the country and the population to remain attentive to information on the development of this event and increase hydrometeorological surveillance.
