Egypt stresses importance of global summit on climate change

Cairo, Jun 1 (Prensa Latina) Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Wednesday stated that the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2022 (COP27) is an opportunity to show unity against the existential threat of this scourge.

In a message posted on the official website of the COP27, which will be held in Egypt in November, El-Sisi stressed that this problem can only be overcome through a concerted action at global level.

He assured that Egypt, as chair of the Conference, will spare no effort to move from the negotiation to the implementation of the projects.

He recalled that the holding of the COP27 will mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

In those three decades, the world has made great progress in the fight against the scourge and its negative impacts on the planet, he emphasized.

The president called to work together to promote resilience and improve the capacity for adaptation.
