“(It was) an act directed against the civilians of the city, because it was the civilians who suffered,” Danilchenko told the Russia 24 television channel, referring to Monday’s explosion of a car bomb in the center of the city, in southeastern Ukraine.
As reported by a director of the civil-military administration of the Zaporozhye region, Vladimir Rogov, the explosion occurred around 07:40 local time.
Residents of the area of the attack reported that the walls and windows of the houses shook, and the center of the city was filled with clouds of black smoke.
Rogov indicated that the Russian Armed Forces are in control of more than 70 percent of the territory, while the military and representatives of the Kiev authorities maintain control over the other part of the Zaporozhye region.
