Vietnam’s Parliament debates law on Grassroots Democracy

Hanoi, May 27 (Prensa Latina) The National Assembly (Parliament) of Vietnam on Friday debated in Hanoi a draft law on Implementation of Grassroots Democracy, which seeks to ensure that state power belongs to the people.

The text will be presented by Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra to the participants in the 15th Legislature’s third session, who will also learn on the drafts on Emulation and Reward Act, and the Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence Act.

Later, according to Vietnamese news agency VNA, they will discuss the bill that amends the Insurance Business Law, to ensure the institutionalization of the Vietnamese Communist Party’s guidelines on the issue, in line with the international commitments. On Thursday, the parliamentarians discussed the legislative drafts on Inspection, Mobile Police, as well as the one on Medical Examinations and Treatments.

Also, the draft of the Law on Cinema that, according to the head of Vietnam’s Legislative Commission for Culture and Education, Nguyen Dac Vinh, provides clearer contents on the responsibilities of the State and the participation of organizations and individuals in the sector and modifies some regulations on the development of the national film industry.

The third session of the 15th Legislature began on Monday and will run for 19 days.
