Rector speaks of inter-university projects in Central America

Managua, May 27 (Prensa Latina) The rector of the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN-Managua) and president of the National Council of Universities, Ramona Rodriguez, highlighted the projects that the institution is developing with other universities in Central America.

“At the regional level, we are working through the Central American Superior Council to strengthen the training of our professionals,” Rodriguez told Prensa Latina in an interview.

The academic spoke of the objective of training students with the vision of citizen and professional skills, committed to the people and who contribute to the solution of existing problems in the populations, taking into account the similarity between the nations of the region.

She also emphasized scientific-technical skills, for which they are articulated in training programs and work from the strategic plan of higher education in Central America: “We are contributing (…) for example, on how to take better advantage of these (communication) networks, how to further spread what we do in the universities.”

According to the rector, the research part plays an important role in postgraduate training with links between universities.

“We have an accredited (hydraulic expertise), which is taught by one of the aquatic resource research centers in Nicaragua, in this way we also pay attention to the training of professionals in the region,” she said.

The professor highlighted another postgraduate training program with the International University of La Rioja based in Mexico and Spain, where they managed to train professionals virtually “but in careers that we do not have in Nicaragua. (…) We are also doing this with Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador.”
