Heavy rainfall and winds, along with thunderstorms and severe flooding were reported in Guatemala City and several departments of the country on Thursday, a situation that will continue on Friday, authorities from the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology reported.

As a result of the bad weather, several overpasses in the city were completely flooded, as well as large areas of Plaza de la Constitution (Constitution Square), in this capital’s historical center.

On social media, users posted photos of the chaos that was generated in the capital’s traffic and in neighboring municipalities due to the high levels of water that fell in a short period of time.
