The Council’s members stressed the role of the Lebanese institutions, including the newly elected Parliament, in the implementation of the measures necessary to tackle the crisis, Naharnet website reported.
The Security Council urged the swift adoption of an appropriate budget for 2022 to enable the quick conclusion of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund and respond to the demands of the Lebanese population, the publication mentioned.
They encouraged the adoption of measures to enhance women’s full, equal and meaningful political participation and representation, including in the new ministerial cabinet.
On the other hand, the National News Agency (NNA) shared the call for the conclusion of an independent, impartial, thorough and transparent investigation into the explosions that struck the Beirut port on August 4, 2020, which resulted in more than 200 deaths and thousands of injuries.
The Council members highlighted the holding of the parliamentary elections on May 15, as well as the technical contribution of the UN, the European Union, the International Organization of La Francophonie, the Arab League and other international and local observers, the NNA information stated.
Lebanon is in a transition period after the elections were held and it is awaiting the appointment of the new president of Parliament and the formation of the government.

En la ONU abogan por formación de gobierno en Líbano
Beirut, 26 may (Prensa Latina) El Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas abogó por la rápida formación de un nuevo gobierno y la implementación de reformas en Líbano, divulgan hoy medios locales.
Los miembros del ente hicieron hincapié en el papel de las instituciones libanesas, incluido el Parlamento recién elegido, para la implementación de las medidas necesarias para hacer frente a la crisis, reflejó el sitio digital Naharnet.
El Consejo de Seguridad instó a la rápida adopción de un presupuesto apropiado para 2022 que permita la rápida conclusión de un acuerdo con el Fondo Monetario Internacional y responder a las demandas de la población libanesa, mencionó la publicación.
Alentaron la adopción de medidas para mejorar la participación y representación política plena, igualitaria y significativa de la mujer, incluso en el nuevo gabinete ministerial.
Por otra lado, la Agencia Nacional de Noticias (NNA) compartió el reclamo de finalizar una investigación independiente, imparcial, exhaustiva y transparente sobre las explosiones que sacudieron el Puerto de Beirut el 4 de agosto de 2020, que ocasionó más de 200 muertes y miles de heridos.
Los integrantes del Consejo destacaron la celebración de los comicios parlamentarios del 15 de mayo último, así como la contribución técnica de la ONU, la Unión Europea, la Organización Internacional de la Francofonía, la Liga Árabe y otros observadores internacionales y locales, afirmó la información de la NNA.
El país con costas al mar Mediterráneo está en un período de transición después de efectuadas las elecciones y a la espera del nombramiento del nuevo presidente del Parlamento y la conformación del gobierno.
