Dumar Rosales, Chief of Hospital Section of the Provincial Directorate of Public Health, told the Granma newspaper that, despite the application of all the established medical protocols, a victim died as a result of trauma head and other injuries.
The report added that of the five patients admitted to the provincial general hospital in Bayamo, one was in critical condition, another was in serious condition and three were reported to be in intermediate care, including an eight years-old child.
Of the 20 passengers involved in the accident, another six were sent to care to a hospital in Manzanillo, with one victim reported in critical condition and the rest were in intermediate care, out of danger.
Two other minors were recovering from their injuries at a pediatric hospital.
