Moscow, May 25 (Prensa Latina) The spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Igor Konashenkov, highlighted that the port of the city of Mariupol, in the Donetsk People's Republic, has been completely demined and began to operate normally, after being liberated from Ukrainian troops.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated on Tuesday that sappers of the Black Sea Fleet and engineering troops have finished demining the territory of the port.

During the demining, 134 structures were inspected, which allowed to locate and defuse more than 12,000 explosive devices. Weapons discarded by the Ukrainian military were also found.

This allowed putting into operation engineering structures and navigation equipment in the approaches and waters of the port of Mariupol.

The channels and the harbor were cleared of sunken ships and other obstacles to navigation.

The Defense Ministry reported that in total more than 1.5 million square meters of water surface, 18 berths and 32 ships were searched.
