“Together with the leaders of the security agencies, I have decided to extend the yellow terrorist threat level for another two weeks, until June 8th,” the governor announced on his Telegram channel.

Starovoit argued that extending the measure will allow the special services to maintain the security of the residents of the area.

The yellow (high) level of terrorist threat was introduced in Kursk, on the other side of the Ukrainian region of Sumy, on April 11th “due to possible provocations by Ukrainian nationalists,” according to the governor.

He also repeatedly denounced that border areas and checkpoints in the region have been repeatedly shelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In this regard, Starovoit reported on May 17th that the town of Alekseyevka, on the border with Ukraine, was shelled using large-caliber weapons by Kiev’s forces, although no casualties were reported.

Also, on April 25th, the Russian air defense forces shot down two drones over the border area, and later on on May 8th and 11th.
