Abu Aqla died today after being shot in the head while she was covering a new raid by Israeli forces in the city of Jenin, in the northern occupied West Bank.
“It is a sad day in which a reporter who defended the truth, the right and the resistance to the Israeli forces, the terrorists of our era, fell,” said a statement from the Parliament’s Press Commission.
The Union of Journalists issued a similar statement and called for the perpetrators of this crime to be prosecuted before international courts.
In turn, the Foreign Ministry condemned in the strongest terms the continuous Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the occupied territories, especially in the city of Jerusalem.
“These actions constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and of the resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly of the United Nations,” said the text of an official note from the Foreign Ministry, which ratified its full support for the Palestinian people and their right to freedom and to live in an independent state on their lands.
