Also, the Cuban Minister of Health, José Ángel Portal signed, together with Jorge Carlos Alcocer, secretary of this sector in Mexico, an agreement to promote the training of human resources and assistance in various health areas.
Present on the Cuban side were the president of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Esteban Lazo; Prime Minister Manuel Marrero; Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez; Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Álvaro López; and the head of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca.
The Mexican delegation was made up by Marcelo Ebrard, Secretary of Foreign Affairs; the Secretary of Defense, General Luis Cresencio Sandoval; and Admiral of the Navy José Rafael Ojeda.
The signing of the agreements took place during the working visit of the Mexican president who arrived on the island the day before and today paid tribute to José Martí besides holding talks with President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
In addition, López Obrador received the José Martí national award, highest given by the Cuban government.
