The president was interested there in the work of cleaning up debris and, above all, the search and rescue operations for survivors inside the iconic hotel.

On Friday, the Saratoga Hotel was severely damaged by a strong explosion that occurred at around 11:00 hours, local time.

Diaz-Canel and other top officials from the Government, the State and the Communist Party (PCC) were present on the site of the incident.

The head of State chaired a meeting at which priorities were reviewed, including the search for survivors, the care for the injured, the location of those displaced by the explosion and the protection of their properties.
