“From May 1st to May 3rd, 34,230 refugees crossed the Russian border, in total since the beginning of the conflict there were 1.11 million people, including 197,550 children,” according to the statement.
The Center further reported that the majority of the refugees crossed into Russian territory through checkpoints in the Rostov, Briansk, Belgorod and Republic of Crimea regions.
The military authorities also specified about 200,000 are of Russian nationality, more than 608,000 have the citizenship of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, and the rest are citizens of Ukraine and other states.
They also stated that more than 33 thousand refugees are staying in 508 temporary assistance centers in 52 regions of Russia.
Moscow’s security organs said that in the last 24 hours, 12,000 displaced people, including about 3,000 children, arrived in Russia from areas of Donetsk and Lugansk, as well as from territories that are now under the control of Russian forces.
