“We are actively developing reprisals and legal mechanisms to challenge the illegitimate restrictions imposed,” the diplomat told Rossiyskaya Gazeta in an interview.
Birichevski stressed that Moscow reserves the right to tighten special measures in case of escalation of unilateral and illegitimate sanctions.
“When developing response measures, unlike many Western partners, we aspire not to harm our own economy, here it is necessary for us measure at least seven times,” he stressed.
Regarding the actions being prepared, Birichevsky stated that at this stage they are confidential and reiterated that the West’s anti-Russian ideas will not go unanswered.
The official made the statements after the EU’s announcement of the presentation of the sixth package of sanctions against Russia this Wednesday.
The president of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, spoke before the deputies of the European Parliament in the plenary session in Strasbourg and stated that among other restrictions the new measures will include the prohibition of transmission of three Russian television channels and the disconnection of the Russian bank Sberbank and two other large Russian banks from the SWIFT system.
