For the official opening, the event will screen the film “Ondina” (Undine) (2020), by Christian Petzold, which connects the life of a young female historian and specialist in urban development in Berlin with the ancient myth, according to which she must kill her partner after the breakup of the courtship.
As a new feature, the 23 y 12 movie theater in the Havana neighborhood of Vedado will show a retrospective of four films dedicated to German filmmaker Claudia von Alemann, whose work finds points of contact with the struggles in favor of the gender equality, both in everyday life and in the world of the seventh art.
On the occasion of the cycle, Von Alemann will arrive in Havana to present one of her films, “El viaje a Lyon” (The Trip to Lyon), which completes the selection made up by “El cuarto de la mujer” (The Woman’s Room), “Sombras de la memoria” (Memory Shadows) and “La mujer con la camara” (The Woman with the Camera).
According to Cubacine website, the filmmaker will hold a lecture with Cuban film director Fernando Perez, scheduled for May 13 at the Cinemateca’s courtyard, which includes other films such as Toubab (2020) by Florian Dietrich, focused on migration and raciality in the German country.
