We will increase the tests, contact tracing and public health measures, said WHO’s Director-General Tedros Adhanom, who confirmed at a press conference the Ebola outbreak in the Central African country.
On Tuesday, health authorities reported a 25-year-old patient, sister-in-law of the first case, whose death after a 12-day hospitalization aroused fears in a population that lost 2,280 Ebola-infected people from 2018 to 2020.
“Ebola vaccine doses in Goma and Kinshasa are now being taken to Mbandaka so that immunization can start,” Mr. Adhanom said.
The DRC government and people have vast experience in halting Ebola outbreaks and WHO will support them to do whatever is necessary, Mr. Adhanom stressed.
