Paris, Apr 26 (Prensa Latina) The French chapter of the environmental organization Greenpeace expressed distrust in the promises of re-elected President Emmanuel Macron to strengthen the fight against climate change, and called for concrete actions in that direction.

We will judge his management by acts and concrete evidence, said the general director of Greenpeace France, Jean-François Julliard, who criticized the president for failing to comply with his ecological proposals in his five years in the Elysée Palace, he told the Franceinfo network.

According to the activist, environmental defenders are disappointed and have even felt betrayed by Macron’s unheeded promises.

The level of trust is extremely low today, since he spoke of a country of environmental excellence and of being a great defender of the Paris Agreement, but we have already seen what happened, he explained.

In the electoral campaign, the head of state assured that he would promote the confrontation with climate change, amid accusations of inaction on the matter.

Greenpeace France has participated in recent years in activities to demand government commitment in the face of this challenge to humanity, the most recent of which was the mobilization for the future that took place in this capital and other cities in the country on April 9, the eve of the first round of the presidential elections.

Then, the protesters called for social and climate justice, a demand that will return to the French streets on May 1, on International Workers’ Day.

We are already in contact with unions and social organizations, to send a strong message that we will not stand idly by waiting for things to get done, Julliard said.
