Protesters blocked the Tripoli-Akkar highway to condemn the negligence by legislators and officials in the incident, in which six people, included a girl, were killed.
According to reports, the incident occurred due to a poor maneuvering of the military vessels that, in an attempt to prevent the illegal operation, rammed the small migrant boat.
Defense Minister Maurice Selim protected the soldiers by saying that they did their duty, while Colonel Haitham Dinnaoui explained that the illegal boat was designed for 10 people and more than 50 were traveling.
At the time, Prime Minister Najib Mikati declared mourning for the victims.
The crisis in Lebanon reached levels of desperation for ordinary citizens who seek to leave the country at any cost.
