Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Ran Kochav told Kan radio station that the military forces bombarded southern Lebanon on Sunday evening, although he did not clarify the targets.
According to Kochav, the rocket against Israel was launched by Palestinian militias, but so far no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The official estimated that the incident is a reaction to the recent Israeli operations in the Esplanade of the Mosques in East Jerusalem, to expel the Palestinians from there and allow that groups of Israelis visit the site on the occasion of a religious holiday.
In August 2021, a similar situation triggered an exchange of blows between the IDF and the Lebanese group Hezbollah, with a large presence in the south of that nation.
