Our Governments and peoples have a very solid long-standing fraternal relationship, which must serve to strengthen the interstate ties and promote cooperation in the region, Omamo said during a meeting with Ethiopian Ambassador to Kenya Meles Alem.
She also commented that the promotion of a national dialogue and other Government initiatives to establish the definitive peace, rehabilitate infrastructure and promote humanitarian assistance in the northern region contribute to the stability in East Africa.
Omamo thanked the Ethiopian diplomat for his contribution to the development of the relations between the two states and presented Ambassador Meles with the Nyayo Simba Award, which is bestowed upon ambassadors who have made significant contributions to Kenya’s relations with other countries.
For his part, Alem addressed the minister a message from Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen, and he pointed out that the historical friendship between the two countries “has scaled up to cover multiple areas, including political, economic and people-to-people ties.”
