Havana, Apr 21 (Prensa Latina) The book Fidel as a hummingbird is an unprecedented experience conceived by Argentine journalist and writer Diego M. Vidal, based on an interview with the leader of the Cuban Revolution several years ago.

The volume, presented on Wednesday at the Fidel Castro Ruz Center in the capital, constitutes, in the author’s opinion, his contribution to the memory of a political leader, thinker and irreplaceable human being, and closes a cycle of experiences related to his reporting work and the Caribbean nation.

The text has among its successes the confluence of renowned personalities of Cuban culture such as singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez, in charge of the prologue; the images of Roberto Chile and Liborio Noval and the work of painter Ernesto Rancaño on the cover.

According to journalist and essayist Katiuska Blanco, Fidel as a hummingbird is a fabulous document due to its conceptual depth and the statesman’s reflections; as well as the evocation of history and contemporary ideas on core issues.

In this sense, he mentioned the tactical distinction between Camilo Cienfuegos and Ernesto “Che” Guevara; considerations on various processes promoted on the island; the link with children and youth and the aspects that he considered as the backbone of the Revolution.

The title of this literary production recalls a description of the bird provided by Uruguayan intellectual Eduardo Galeano in El colibrí, contained in Los natales, the first book of his Memory of Fire trilogy, which also includes Faces and Masks and The Century of the Wind.

“The world would not have been the same without him. He was one of those irreplaceable characters, one should imitate his commitment, coherence and faith,” concluded Vidal, creator of Smoke Blue, Havana chronicles, also published under the seal of Editorial Nuestra América.
