The statement added that Volkswagen is also considering reopening its Anting plant in Shanghai after being closed for two and a half weeks.
The current wave of contagions, the largest recorded in China since the outbreak of the pandemic over two years ago, especially affected the province of Jilin and its capital, Changchun, as well as Shenyang and Shanghai.
Production at the three plants operated by the Volkswagen Group in Changchun in conjunction with China has been halted since March 14.
Last week, the German automaker BMW was able to resume production at the world’s largest hub in Shenyang, after a three-week lockdown.
