After the protocol acts, Aliyev and Valdes spoke in a cordial atmosphere about the current state of relations between Baku and Havana, as well as the international situation.
According to Cuban diplomatic sources, Aliyev reiterated the gratitude of his people for the contribution of the Cuban health professionals who helped fight the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in Azerbaijan.
He stressed that Cuban support had “a positive impact on our decrease in Covid-19 cases and efficiently helped save many lives.”
The head of state recognized that in addition to health, both countries can collaborate in many economic-commercial and investment fields, such as sports, tourism, education, professional training, agriculture and culture, among others.
Likewise, he sent greetings to the Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, and the people of Cuba, and ratified the will to continue promoting the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, the Cuban ambassador thanked Azerbaijan for its historic support in the votes in the United Nations General Assembly against the US blockade and reiterated Havana’s commitment to developing joint projects on issues of common interest.
