The diplomat recalled the failed coup d’état of April 11th, 2002 against Commander Hugo Chavez, and proposed to reflect on the experiences of that event in which the role of the people was decisive, as reported by the Cuban News Agency.
Speaking at the discussion on Interference by the United States and the Coup d’état in Venezuela, Chavez pointed out the need to study and prepare the left-wing movements to use these experiences in the face of the renewed rise of far-right and fascist movements throughout the continent.
During these last 20 years, the government of the United States has tried to implement the same script of attacking the Venezuelan people with the support of other attempted coups and other actions against the Bolivarian Revolution, the diplomat told local television.
An exhibition was inaugurated during the meeting, which was attended by Cuban intellectuals and representatives of the Venezuelan embassy in Havana, with photographs that show the main events that occurred 20 years ago.
A group of counterrevolutionary elements, supported by the Venezuelan oligarchy, tried to overthrow the Bolivarian Revolution led by Hugo Chavez, but were defeated in less than 48 hours by the people.
