Venezuelan Government strengthens housing program

Maduro, fortalecimiento, programa, viviendas
Caracas, Apr 8 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Friday announced a group of decisions adopted by the Executive to strengthen the housing program for the benefit of the population.

Speaking from the Miraflores Palace on radio and television, the president welcomed the goal of four million houses built and delivered to as many families in the country as part of the Great Housing Mission Venezuela.

The head of State called on authorities to make progress in the commitment to replace all Venezuelan shantytowns with developed, dignified and comfortable urban developments for the most vulnerable sectors of society.

In that regard, Maduro stated that the actions to strengthen house construction must go hand in hand with the adoption of new methods to guarantee permanent social care to Venezuelan families.

Among the measures Maduro announced for such purposes is to promote the production of Petrocasa S.A., in order to reach a production plan of 15,000 metric tons of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) components by 2024.

About this issue, Habitat and Housing Minister Ildemaro Villarroel pointed out that the seven industries belonging to this entity are mainly engaged in the manufacture of roofs, windows, doors and architectural enclosure panels.

The Great Housing Mission Venezuela was launched in 2011 at the initiative of then President Hugo Chavez (1954-2013) to care for the families affected by heavy rains from late 2010 to early 2011.
