The Association of Government Medical Officials warned at a press conference in Galle that the lives of patients are being seriously affected because of it, according to the Newsfirst portal.
The Association of Medical Officials stated recently that the country’s health sector is facing several problems as a result of the national economic crisis, since a lack of foreign currency resulted in the reduction of allocations for the health sphere.
This situation leaves Sri Lanka hard-pressed to service its massive foreign debt of 51 billion dollars, while the Covid-19 pandemic torpedoed vital income from tourism and remittances from abroad.
The result is unprecedented food and fuel shortages, along with record inflation and crippling power outages.
