In the last two days, France, Denmark, Germany and Italy have expelled collectively more than 100 Russian officials.
Such actions come after President Vladimir Putin passed a decree establishing countermeasures on visa issuance in relation to unfriendly actions taken by foreign states.
The decision was made from the need to respond urgently to sanctions imposed by the European Union. The implementation of the measure suspends clauses of the simplified visa issuance agreements with the European Union, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
The Russian authorities approved in recent weeks a group of political, economic and financial provisions to counteract more than 6,300 measures applied against Russia, mostly following the start of the military operation in Ukraine.
