According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), for every American looking for a job there are nearly 1.8 open positions, equaling the high-record from December 2021.
The country’s companies reported 11.3 million vacancies to fill past February, more than expected by economists as part of the phenomenon called “The Great Renunciation”, typical of the pandemic economy.
Most of employees stepped down their occupations for better opportunities in terms of salary and working conditions, due to the risk of being infected with Covid-19.
The largest toll of workers who quit their jobs were in state and local retail chains, manufacturing sector, and education.
Meanwhile, the largest number of available vacancies were in arts, entertainment and leisure sectors, educational services as well as federal government sectors.
