“I think that in the near future a referendum will be held in the Luhansk People´s republic, in which people will exercise their absolute constitutional right and express their opinion on becoming part of the Russian Federation,” Mr. Pasechnik told reporters.
In this regard, the head of the Committee on Constitutional Laws of the Russian Federation Council Andrei Klishas stated that both the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) and the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) have the right to call such referendum.
Speaking to the Sputnik News Agency, Mr. Klishas recalled that Moscow recognized the sovereignty of both republics, so that their governments have the right to make decisions in accordance with their corresponding constitutions.
