During a rally in front of the US embassy in Santiago de Chile, rioters called for the end of this economic, commercial and financial blockade that has been imposed for more than 60 years.
The US blockade is a major drawback to Cuba’s breakthroughs and has tightened even in times of the worst pandemic in decades, protesters condemned.
In a letter addressed to President Joe Biden, demonstrators also condemned the hegemonic claims by imperialism and NATO pushing the world into a new military conflict, which puts global peace at risk.
The letter recalled that NATO’s expansionism towards Eastern Europe and its attempt to encircle Russia were the starting point of the Ukraine crisis.
The text was signed by over a dozen bodies, including the Association of Fathers and Mothers of Graduated Professionals in Cuba, Chilean-Cuban Friendship of Valparaíso Cultural center, ¨Siboney¨ Collective of Solidarity with Cuba, ¨Ernesto Che Guevara¨ Committee of Solidarity with Cuba as well as the ¨Raíces Cubanas¨ Association of Cubans Resident in Chile.
