On March 22, a US delegation headed by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Ethan Goldrich illegally entered Syrian territory, as well as an official from the Department of Consular Affairs and Civil Law of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs did so.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry confirmed this denunciation in letters sent to the President of the Security Council and the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
The text of the two letters considers that these visits flagrantly violate the Syrian sovereignty and the provisions of the UN Charter, the international law principles and the Security Council resolutions related to this nation.
The statement that these actions are aimed at alleviating the suffering of Syrians residents in those areas and mitigating the repercussions of the crisis is a pure lie, the Foreign Ministry stressed.
The Ministry condemned these practices and reaffirmed the Syrian State’s determination to extend its sovereignty over the entire national territory and free it from all forms of occupation, as it is a right guaranteed by the International Law.
