In a meeting with the deputy minister of the sector, Regla Angulo, the representative of the trade mechanism described the island’s achievements as impressive in the midst of confronting the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.
According to the Twitter account of the Ministry of Public Health, Llorenti assured that these results are due “to a great extent” to the legacy of the historical leader, Fidel Castro, and ratified the intention to revitalize programs such as Operation Miracle and the training of doctors.
“You are the best example that, even in the most adverse situations, it is possible to move forward,” he said.
During the meeting, Angulo explained the structure of the health system from primary care and addressed the milestones of the Antillean nation in the context of Covid-19 and its national vaccination strategy against the pandemic.
He also highlighted the free nature of health care as a right of the people and the willingness to accompany the member countries of AlBA-TCP with their professionals.
Llorenti has been on a visit to Cuba since March 19, in which he has held previous meetings with the nation’s president, Miguel Díaz-Canel; Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, as well as with students and academics linked to international politics.
