Missile launched from Ukraine hits Russian town

Moscow, March 24 (Prensa Latina) The governor of the Russian region of Belgorod, Viacheslav Gladkov, reported Wednesday that a state of emergency was declared in two towns of that territory due to the explosion of a projectile launched from Ukraine.

“There is an emergency: there was a shot from Ukraine in our direction. The projectile exploded in a town, there are wounded,” the authority explained on its Telegram channel without offering specific details of the name of the place.

He stated that victims receive the required health care and for the safety of the inhabitants of towns of Zhuravliovka and Nekhotéyevka, the district administration declared a state of emergency.

The Russian Investigative Committee, for its part, opened criminal cases for the bombing of that border area with Ukraine by the military of that country, TASS news agency reported.

Russia began a military operation in Ukraine on February 24, after the authorities of the self-proclaimed People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, in the Donbass region, asked for help to repel the increase in aggression from kyiv.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a speech to inform about the start of the operation, stated that the objective is to protect the population of Donbass from the abuses and genocide of kyiv during the last eight years, in addition to “demilitarizing” and “denazify” Ukraine.
