We are on the side of the Syrian people until all territories have been liberated from terrorism, the foreign minister said after being received by President Bashar al-Assad.
Amir-Abdollahian considered that Syria’s exercise of its role is essential for the stability in the region and welcomed the new approach of the Arab countries in normalizing relations with Damascus.
In turn, Al-Assad stated that reaching an agreement on the Iranian nuclear dossier is important and favors the interests of Iran, the region and the global balance.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a communique issued at the end of the Iranian minister’s visit, described the relations between Tehran and Damascus as historic, strategic and important, not only for the interests of the two countries, but also to ensure security and stability in the region.
This is the third visit made by the Iranian foreign minister to Damascus, the previous one took place in October, during which he confirmed the willingness to consolidate the strategic cooperation to face the blockade and the economic sanctions.
