On the website http://madretierra.mppp.gob.ve, Venezuelans could analyze and comment on the explanatory memorandum of the legal initiative, which is expected to respond to three great strategic challenges such as the articulation of efforts, information management and planning.
Among the objectives to be achieved in this process of collective construction are expanding the visions that allow to contemplate the human dimension of climate change and its territorial impact, the Venezuelan Parliament stated in a press release.
The law will also seek to protect the country against the so-called false solutions that are presented through policies for the fight against the alteration of climate conditions, when they do not really alleviate the problem and at worse, consume resources with the potentialities to be used in more effective ways.
According to the legislative source, these policies contribute to accentuate the climate crisis by deepening or guaranteeing power relations, inequities, practices or intrinsic values to the capitalist system that have originated the environmental emergency in the world.
