Proud of the jurists of Cuba: prosecutors, lawyers and judges. Against the honest exercise of their respective professions, all the cowardly campaigns to discredit them by the enemies of the Cuban Revolution will crash, the president wrote on Twitter.

The National Union of Jurists of Cuba (UNJC) endorsed a statement in favor of its members in Havana last Sunday, as a result of the slander and attacks on social networks against these professionals after intervening in the trials resulting from the violent acts on July 11 and 12 last year.

The document underlines that “Cuban jurists, especially those from the capital, categorically reject and confront any efforts of media manipulation.”

It also warns that they will enforce the law against anyone who tries to subvert the justice that is imparted in the name of the people of Cuba, through threats or discredit.

On Monday, Colonel Idays Borges, head of the Department of Attention to Minors of the Ministry of the Interior, denied the presence of minors in Cuban prisons, one of the lines of attacks against the country.

Cuban citizens under 16 years of age are not criminally prosecuted and for those who commit crimes there is a care system, she stressed.

She added that the Minors Care System is part of the state policies for the comprehensive protection of children, adolescents and youths since the triumph of the Revolution, and was ratified in the new Constitution of the Republic in April 2019.
