Russia denies link to ammonia leak in Ukrainian city

Rusia, desmentido, escape, amoniaco, Ucrania
Moscow, March 21 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Ministry of Defense denied any link with the ammonia leak in a factory near the Ukrainian city of Sumy and denounced that it was a provocation by Ukranian nationalists.

The local Governor, Dmitri Zhivitsky, reported earlier that the ammonia leak took place during the early morning at the Sumykhimprom plant and there are no threats to the lives of the residents of the city because the air masses moved in the opposite direction.

The affected area had a radius of 2.5 kilometers and endangered the town of Novoselitsa. However, the escape allegedly caused by shots had already been contained in the morning hours.

According to Major General Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, the sabotage carried out this Monday is part of the actions planned by the nationalist forces, which Moscow warned of a few days ago.

“Let me remind you that on March 19th we officially warned about the exploitation of this company by Ukrainian nationalists to commit a provocation with the aim of accusing Russia of allegedly using chemical weapons,” Konashenkov said in his report to the press.

He emphasized that the Russian Armed Forces did not plan and are not inflicting any attacks on Ukrainian facilities storing or producing toxic substances.

Konashenkov stated that the Russian Ministry of Defense obtained the coordinates of the facilities and the data on the poisonous substances stored on Ukrainian territory during the capture of the combat documentation of the fourth brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.

He also accused the Kiev government of being directly responsible for any possible incidents with Ukraine’s hazardous substance storage facilities.
