According to the daily report from the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), 7,649 patients are in hospitals or at home nationwide, 5,029 of whom are suspected cases, 29 are under epidemiological surveillance and 2,591 are active cases (53 fewer than those reported on Tuesday).

Of the new cases, 538 were contacts of confirmed patients, one was infected abroad and the source of contagion was not possible to identify in 20 cases.

At a press briefing on television, MINSAP authorities added that 612 patients were discharged after recovering from the disease, so the total number of recovered people is 1,067,372 (accounting for 99 percent of all cases).

Of the active cases, 2,577 are clinically stable while 14 are being treated in intensive care units: seven are in a critical condition and seven are seriously ill.

With those figures, Cuba has accumulated 1,078,525 contagions since the first Covid-19 cases were detected on March 11, 2020.

The death toll remained at 8,503, MINSAP reported.
