We will continue advocating for a diplomatic solution to present crisis in the Eastern Europe through peaceful means, guaranteeing security and sovereignty for all, as well as regional and international peace, Ms. Esquivel stressed at an UNESCO Executive Council´s session on the Ukraine situation.

Ms. Esquivel called not to politicize UNESCO’s work, and also insisted the whole world needs it focused on cooperation as the foundation of its moral authority and intellectuality.

Education, science and culture are leading-lights of peace and should not be used as instruments to further fuel tensions, she warned.

Cuba is a nation that defends International Law, peace and the UN Charter, for which it will always oppose, without ambiguity, to the use or threat of the use of force against any State.
