In a message to the president of UPEC, Ricardo Ronquillo, on the occasion of Press Day in Cuba, the leadership of the hemispheric organization highlighted, 130 years after the founding of the Patria newspaper by José Martí, the contribution of Cuban journalism in Latin America and the Caribbean.
“Felap says ‘Present!’ recognizing in UPEC a fundamental pillar in the historical struggles of journalists in Latin America and the Caribbean, for a just society and a better world,” the message underscored.
The president of Felap, Juan Carlos Camaño, and the general secretary, Nelson del Castillo, highlighted in this sense that UPEC has faced “the lie organized by imperialism and its transnational communication-information apparatus.”
