The event came to an end with a ceremony that lasted nearly an hour and was chaired by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Andrew Parsons, president of the International Paralympic Committee.
Parsons highlighted China’s organizational capacity to host these competitions in an “amazing, safe and spectacular” way, and considered Beijing 2022 another milestone on the road to the full inclusion of people with physical-motor disabilities.
He thanked the relevant authorities, volunteers and all those involved in the development of the event, as well as the commitment of the athletes from all 46 participating countries, for their work.
The 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympic Games started on March 4, and China topped the table of medals with 18 titles, 20 silver medals and 23 third places, followed by Ukraine, Canada, France and the United States.
